Celebrate Guy Fawkes Night with with a picnic under the fireworks!

Hello PicnicShoppers!

As the playground rhyme goes: Remember, remember the fifth of November/Gunpowder, treason and plot!'

These days Guy Fawkes night is a cosy mixture of hot drinks under fireworks and baked potatoes cooked in the bonfire, but November 5th commemorates the moment Fawkes and his conspirators intended to blow up James I.'

They were discovered at the last minute when an official checked on the cellars under the Houses of Parliament where Fawkes was about to light the fuse on 36 barrels of gunpowder. Fawkes' effigy - the guy - was thereafter symbolically set on the bonfire.'

Bonfire night is now one of the big family events in the calendar, with firework festivals held from Canterbury to Dunfermline. It's a chance to wrap up warm, get out into the fresh air and ooh and aah at the rockets.'

Enjoy a big Bonfire Night picnic, with hot dogs in the picnic bags, alongside coffee or hot'chocolate'and a bottle of good red!
