National Baking Week means plenty of homemade cakes for your next picnic!

Hello PicnicShoppers!

National Baking Week runs from 14th-21st October so it's nearly time to get mixing and produce something to put a smile on Mary Berry's face!'

With BBC2's Great British Bake-Off pulling in audience figures of nearly six million, the 'rise up and join the baking revolution' slogan seems fairly accurate.'

Although a mille feuille isn't for beginners, absolutely anybody can have a go at baking. Scones are more or less small rounds of short pastry, in other words flour and half its quantity in butter, rubbed together, with a little water to mix. Cook, then just add jam and cream for a real West country treat. A basic Victoria sponge isn't too much trickier either!'

Baking's fun for all the family and children love eating something they've cooked, albeit with a little help from mum and dad. Why not pack your treats into a picnic hamper, fill the Thermos with hot chocolate and take your chefs for a walk through the countryside!

Check out the PicnicShop range of Picnic Baskets to ensure you're picnicking with your baked treats in style and take a look at our Picnicware selection for some handy bits and bobs to ensure your cake arrives in one piece!

Enjoy your picnicking!
