PicnicShop's Perfect Picnic Pickings: Sausage Rolls!

Hello PicnicShoppers!

Here at PicnicShop HQ, we reckon that sausage rolls, whether spiced up or totally traditional with a nice pastry duvet, put some substance into a picnic.'

They've been described as the finger food of the gods but are also a staple part of our culture - in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Grand Duke, sausage rolls enable the conspirators to recognise each other and Queen Elizabeth in Blackadder dreamed of turning into one!'

To make some yourself, simply roll out a pack of frozen all butter puff pastry to make a rectangle 1/2 cm thick and large enough to accommodate your sausagemeat. Remove the sausage skins from six Cumberland sausages, then mix the sausagemeat with herbs (a handful of roughly cut sage ofr thyme) 'and some lemon zest. Place the meat onto the puff pastry, wrap up then cut into sausage rolls and brush with egg. Place in a hot oven (220 o C) for about 20 minutes, until cooked and golden brown. Eat warm.'

Check out our range of Coolbags and Picnicware to make sure you have everything you need to get your sausage rolls to the picnic intact!

Enjoy your picnicking!
